Quote of the day

Joseph Campbell

We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

I definitely had a plan when I was younger, and even now I still find myself planning out my future how I want it thinking how great it will be after this, that, or the other thing happens. Having a kid by myself at 19 though changed a lot of my plans and over the last 8 years I've learned to be more patient with myself.

8 years ago I was single, living at home, pregnant, and totally clueless on what I was going to do next. I planned on working at Arby's my whole life and thinking how great it would be to be the store manager (let's all laugh together now). Well I quickly realized that I wouldn't be able to give my daughter the life she deserved that way so I tried and failed to go back to college. I tried out the call center life looking forward to 40 hours a week and a raise and i did that for a few years. I unfortunately got switched to satellite TV customer service and absolutely hated that so I applied on indeed constantly and got in with a temp agency. Through that I found the job I was happy in, got laid off with a few other people and called back every so often to see if there was any other openings and ended up being hired on full time with that job because I made sure to work my hardest on my last day and make my rounds to say goodbye.

After I got this job I got my daughter in a stable daycare situation, preschool, and school; I met my husband, I bought a starter home, and we had a baby together. I'm not at my dream job but I'm happy with my job, my family, and working on getting a forever home. I couldn't have done it without my sister and family who have been by my side and so supportive and my husband. Even though I'm 27 and I thought I would have the perfect cookie cutter life by now, I'm happy with where I'm at and will continue working towards my goals no matter how long it takes because all that matters is my healthy and happy family
